How to Connect Two TVs to One DirecTV Receiver
In today’s digital age, it’s not uncommon for households to have more than one television. However, not everyone has the luxury of purchasing multiple DirecTV receivers to accommodate all their TVs. If you find yourself in a similar situation, don’t worry; there are ways to connect two TVs to one DirecTV receiver. In this article, we will discuss the steps and methods you can use to achieve this setup.
Firstly, you’ll need to gather the necessary equipment. You will require an additional coaxial cable, a DirecTV universal remote, and an HDMI cable if your TVs support HDMI input. Once you have these items, follow these steps to connect two TVs to one DirecTV receiver:
1. Connect the DirecTV receiver to your television that is currently connected to the receiver. Use the coaxial cable to connect the receiver’s coaxial output to the TV’s coaxial input.
2. Connect the second TV to the DirecTV receiver using the coaxial cable. Insert one end of the coaxial cable into the DirecTV receiver’s coaxial output and the other end into the second TV’s coaxial input.
3. For the second TV, you will also need to connect the DirecTV receiver’s audio output to the TV’s audio input. Use the appropriate audio cables (either RCA or optical) to connect the receiver’s audio output to the TV’s audio input.
4. If your TVs support HDMI, you can connect them to the DirecTV receiver using an HDMI cable. Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the DirecTV receiver’s HDMI output and the other end to the TV’s HDMI input.
5. Power on the DirecTV receiver and both TVs. Press the “Input” or “Source” button on the DirecTV universal remote to switch the TV with the DirecTV receiver connected to the second TV’s input source.
6. Adjust the DirecTV receiver’s settings to ensure that both TVs can access the same channels. You can do this by accessing the receiver’s menu and selecting the “Set Top Box” or “Input” option. Choose the correct input source for each TV.
7. Program the DirecTV universal remote to control both TVs. This may require programming the remote for the second TV’s brand and model. Consult the remote’s user manual for instructions on how to do this.
By following these steps, you should now have both TVs connected to one DirecTV receiver. You can easily switch between the two TVs using the DirecTV universal remote, and you’ll have access to all your favorite channels on both sets. Just remember to power off both TVs and the DirecTV receiver when not in use to save energy and prevent overheating.
