How Many People Are True Narcissists?

7. Lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others.
8. Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her.
While only a small percentage of the population meets the criteria for NPD, it’s important to note that the disorder is not limited to celebrities or individuals in the public eye. Narcissistic traits can be found in people from all walks of life, and the disorder can manifest in various ways.
Research conducted by psychologist W. Keith Campbell and his colleagues suggests that approximately 6% of the population meets the criteria for NPD. However, this number may be higher if we consider the fact that some individuals with milder narcissistic traits may not meet the full criteria for the disorder.
So, how many people are true narcissists? The answer lies somewhere between 6% and a larger number if we include individuals with milder narcissistic traits. It’s crucial to remember that narcissism is a spectrum, and most people fall somewhere in between.
